Issue Eighty-Three

At regular tea you
lower your last finger

to say, “There’s no need for Poughkeepsie.
Have it removed.”
Across from you I’m wondering
who that dark child is
and what it is he keeps
repeating : “Ethnowhat?

– From “Burn Dirt in the Name” by Steven Minchin

  1. “Present your partner with regular walk-arounds.” I love that line and that concept from Sidney Thompson’s story “Tony’s Balloon Arch.” Also love Richard Hartshorn’s story “Par Avion,” the character Permelia, and the lush description. Maybe the pieces closest to the spirit of Mardi Gras to me. Thanks!
